About Linda S. Marino

Artist Bio

Linda grew up in New Canaan, CT and at a very young age she began drawing and painting.  By high school, she had experienced both foundational art and business classes and was drawn to both . She enjoyed playing tennis, played on the softball team and was a cheerleader for 8 years.

During her college years studying business at Western New England University, Linda receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. However, Linda continued to pursue her love for creating art by signed up for as many art electives as she could. Enough to create a portfolio by her senior year to study aboard with Syracuse University in Florence, Italy. The year was 1986, a time, a place and an experience that altered the course of her life forever. From that point on creating art would play a big part of her life.

For the next 10 years Linda continued to weave together both her love for creating art with a business mindset to forge a career in the marketing, advertising and graphic design world.Running her own business, called Image Express. She worked with both local and nationally known clients such as the Screen Actors Guild of New York, CRN International and  Masonic Charity Foundation.

The following decade, Linda turned her focus and creative energy on raising her three beautiful children and teaching them to be creative. Her youngest daughter loved baking and decorating, her son enjoyed building while her oldest daughter’s love of reading naturally blossomed into the gift for creative writing.

As Linda continued to grow in her artistic skills she studied at Hartford Art School, Manchester Community College, West Hartford Art League and  Glastonbury Art  Guild.  Linda held a position in the education department at the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, CT where her love for art history, the study of contemporary artists and teaching art blossomed.

Currently working in oils and acrylics, Linda seeks to capture her surroundings or subjects with the use of expressive color, bold, confident brushwork with a fresh perspective. Her subjects vary from coastal scenes to farms, floral still lifes to city scapes. The variety keeps her motivated and always seeking to be a keen observer of her environment.

Linda enjoys creating commissioned paintings for her clients. From full scale murals to live painting for weddings, pet portraits to house portraits, creating custom artwork based on her client's vision is her specialty.

Linda has a passion for teaching art and takes great pleasure in encouraging her students of all ages to discover their unique gifts and helping them to develop their artistic skills. She teaches classes and workshops in the Branford area. She has taught at Artsplace in Cheshire, Arts Escape in Southbury, and two retirement communities. Linda also offers plein air classes on location.

Linda is currently the President of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society and Plein Air Coordinator for Madison Art Society.

Her work has won a number of awards including Best Landscape and Honorable Mention in Wethersfield Academy for the Arts 2017 Biennial Fine Art Juried Competition and Best in Show in 2017 Visual Art Exhibition with the Cheshire Art League.

She sells and exhibits her work in various shows and art festivals  in Connecticut as well as online.

Linda S. Marino, Fine Artist and Instructor
Painting outdoors allows me to be immersed in my surroundings, breathing in the fresh air, feeling the sun and breeze against my skin and hearing the sounds of the seashore or soft chatter of a conversation. I attempt to paint a small study in a few hours before the light shifts. These studies are then taken back to my studio as references for larger paintings, working to capture the feel of a time or place on canvas.

I strive to create paintings that communicate confidence in execution and exhibit a fresh, intuitive and unique perspective. Seeking to interpret the world in a way that will not only  inspire others but to evoke or suggest images, memories, and emotions.  For me, painting is a way of communicating, connecting with others and a never ending journey of discovering and exploring.
