Country Road, Simsbury, CT, oil, 16 x 20, available at Maple and Main Gallery
Here's a painting I did last summer and never had the chance to write about it on Art Blog.
I painted this from a photo that I took on a hot Saturday morning in July. I travelled up to Simsbury to paint with a group of plein air painters at a local farm. Perhaps I got the dates mixed up or the plans were changed at the last minute but I couldn't find the group so I continued on the route hoping to find a location that would inspire me to paint.
As I'm traveling along this windy country road in Simsbury, I came across the most amazing steel -beamed bridge. Now used just as a walking path that crosses over the Farmington River. The bridge is covered on both sides with dozens of hanging baskets! What a glorious sight!
This painting will be on exhibit and for sale at the Prelude to Summer Show at Maple and Main Gallery of Fine Art, Chester, CT .... Opening Reception is Friday May 17th, 5-8pm.... all are welcome!
