After dropping Allison off at school this morning I drove in the driveway, glanced over at our garden and ... said to myself... "wow! now that's a beautiful painting!"
My husband Dean has been working very hard cleaning up and planting in our garden and it shows! The garden looks so green and lush. The lavender was blooming and the buds on the another plant were ready to burst.
It was such a delight painting plain air with all the comforts of running back into my studio when I needed something.
Plus Kisses my dog was laying at me feet while Jac the cat decided to mossy on over to the garden and plop himself down right next to the large rock in the lower left corner. I was tempted to paint him in but I knew the minute I started he would some how figure it out that he was my model and leave the scene... this always happens to me when I'm trying to draw of paint my pets. They could lay around for hours and when I decide to sit in front of them to sketch... they hide their faces, turn around or even leave the scene... they're just like kids sometimes.
