Apple Sliced oil on Gessoboard 6 x 6
This was the second painting of the day today. I waited to posted it because I wanted some feedback from my husband and dear friend Joy.
Oddly enough the yellowing of the apple didn’t bother me enough to stop painting it and the longer the apple stayed under the heat of the spotlight the yellow-ier it got. See the original painting below.
Here’s the feedback from my sweet husband:
(he’s master the art of answering “loaded questions”)...
“I love it... so you’re going to do a series of decaying food? That’s different, I’ve never seen that before.”
Here’s the response from my friend, honest Joy:
The apple looks sunken around the corners where the flesh meets the skin. It also looks decaying and not
appetizing with the darker yellow.
So to a completely untrained eye as mine, that's my take on it.
Honesty is the sign of true friend... so on that advice I brightened the apple with the magic of titanium white paint.
