"Chatfield Hollow Park" 8 x 10, oil, en plein air, with the Madision Art Society
It was a hot one today! Even though I was in the shade I think the temperature hit 97 degrees!
There must have been a dozen of us painting together under the shaded trees. I had never been to Chatfield Hollow Park in Killingsworth, CT. How peaceful and serene and for a Wednesday morning the beach was very quit with a few swimmers and little ones.
I will definitely go back again to paint here, I heard there's a water mill and covered bridge that I have yet to discover. Maybe I can even talk my husband into joining me... I hear the trout fishing is pretty good.
It was a bit challenging painting this scene because when I started the water was very dark with lots of reflects from across the lake but as the light shifted the water became bluer and the reflections shorter.
