![]() Meet Gracie. Today I painted this beautiful golden retriever named Gracie who belongs to Linda Martin. Here's what Linda has to say: "Gracie was born May 19, 2011. We heard about this great breeder in Marshall, Va, named Diane Casey. Gracie is a mid-sized Golden Retriever and weighs about 61 pounds. The best thing that is great about Gracie is the way she smiles all the time! In her short life, she has been through advanced training and has already passed her Canine Good Citizen test. She loves tennis balls and even sleeps with them…and she loves whatever food she can wrap her lips around! Gracie goes to doggy daycare three days a week and she has a "boy friend," Trevor to play with. (The photo below reminds me of Grant Wood's American Gothic!)" Today is the 11th day of the challenge which also means it's September 11th. Although the original photo didn't have an American Flag in the photography I decided to add it in to honor all the victims and service people who were part of the 9/11 tragedy. I have joined in with over 240 other artists on fellow artist Leslie Saeta's blog. click here to link to the challenge. I have to say thank you to all the friends and friends of friends and family who have e-mailed me their cute dog photos. I really appreciate it very much. I'm trying my best to include each one in the challenge. If I get to the end of the challenge and I haven't painted your dog. I will try to continue the challenge until all the dogs are painted and only one dog per owner. I might not be able to paint one everyday... I know I'll need a break at the end of this challenge, but I will keep the dog series going. Each painting is painted on either 8 x 10 inch or 8 x 8 inch canvas board with quality oil paints and varnished. The price is $140 + (shipping and CT sales tax). Unframed. with much gratitude, Linda

How awesome that on this day, you included the American flag. Today is also my daughter's birthday so I have happy memories of the day and a good excuse to celebrate.

Hi Carol, happy birthday to your daughter! Thanks for sharing your comments... How are you finding the time to paint and look at the other artists work in the challenge?
