Today is Day 28 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge that I signed on to be apart of with Leslie Saeta and over 260 other artists.
My theme is: Connecticut Treasures.
There's something about ice skating outside on a crisp winter afternoon in Connecticut that I find so exhilarating. Perhaps it brings me back to my childhood days when my brother and I would skate on Mill Pond or at Meed Park in New Canaan, CT. Coming home with frozen fingers, candy apple red cheeks and a smile from ear to ear I can remember my mom making Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate with a few chunky marshmallows... ahhh... the good old days.
For other Connecticut residents skating outside at Bushnell Park in Hartford, CT is where over 500 skaters during the week and four thousand on the weekends come together to enjoy this winter sport. Unfortunately we just missed their open season which ran from November 23, 2012 to January 21, 2013. There's always next year for ice skating but a stroll through Bushnell Park during the springtime is just around the corner. A park for all seasons Bushnell Park host many community events including music concerts, cycling events, road races and more... over 1 million people visit Bushnell Park a year!
Hope you've enjoy this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge ... with only two paintings left to go and just a few more hours in this day... the he
