"Garden View, Field View Farms, Orange, CT" oil 11 x 14
Plein air painting with my friend Stephanie was such a delightful surprise today!
Stephanie and I planned to meet up at Field View Farm in Orange, CT to paint the cows in the field. However when we got there the cows were all inside and the fields were being plowed by the workers.
Ugh, nothing inspiring to paint... until we poked our heads through a cluster of hedges only to find this magnificent garden!
Bunny Hines is the owner of the farm and creator of this colorful garden oasis! With a quick change of plans we asked Bunny if we could paint her garden and she so kindly agreed. Stephanie was smart to set up her easel under the big shady tree. But for me, I sacrificed the cool shade for this striking view down the center path.
Afterwards, I purchase from their farm stand a gallon of their whole milk and a large container of yogurt. I opted for the milk in the old fashion glass milk bottle with the idea of including this really cool bottle into a still life painting back in my studio.
It was a wonderful day, a few twists and turns but all it all I was very happy. Much thanks to Stephanie my painting buddy and Bunny!
