Acrylic Painting for the Absolute Beginner - A Fresh Start in my NEW Art Studio 

Here's a great class for absolute beginners or those who want to brush up on their skills.  You'll learn the process of creating an acrylic painting from a blank canvas to ready to frame. We'll start with the basic building blocks of painting – design, value, and color and add on. With each lesson you'll build confidence quickly through practice and easy to follow instructions. 

You'll learn how to mix colors and how to see and apply light and dark colors to create a more realistic painting.  The class will focus on the fundamentals of color mixing, basic brush techniques, paint handling and application. We'll put it all together to complete a finished painting.

​Acrylic paints are terrific for beginners because they dry quickly which makes it easy to make corrections or learn to build layers. I often tell my students "Acrylics are great because they're fixable".

​In our first class I'll review materials: paints, and  brushes and how to care for them, Best palettes and the variety of different surfaces to paint on.

Class sizes are small so each student will receive plenty of one-on-one assistance.. You'll love the friendly and warm environment of your peers while working on fun and easy to do exercises that you can practice at home.

Once all the basics lessons are complete, you'll have the opportunity to put your new skills and knowledge to work on your own piece. Whether you want to create a still life, landscape, seascape, or portrait,  each lesson will help you gain an understanding of the painting process so that you can apply it to the  subject matter of your choice.

 Even if you have never painted before, in a short period of time you can learn the basic concepts of painting and techniques needed to create convincing paintings.
