Peppers and Posies, oil on canvas, 6 x 6
When it comes to setting up still life objects to paint in my studio I look for ways to find harmony and contrast together. It helps to create a dynamic composition. The three elements I carefully chose were the solid for of the red peppers, the transparency of the glass jar and the delicate white petals of the daisies. So they may start off as objects but something magical happens as I'm concentrating so intently on painting. The objects begin to take on a life, a character. You know kind of like, well... Pinnocchio.
Even though the peppers stole the show in this composition, the sweet delicate little daisy lower her head and reached out her hand to greet her fellow actor in the play called... “Peppers and Posies”.
Big thanks to my friend Joy for helping me title this one!
