"Painting by the Pool" oil, 8 x 10, plein air in the Pine Meadow Gardens, Southbury, CT
I had so much fun today painting at Pine Meadow Gardens in Southbury, CT today!
My friend Ellie Boyd did a wonderful job organizing this plein air painting event. I was among 8 other artists who painted the gardens in this incredible heat.
It starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday with an Garden Tour Event put on by the Southbury Land Trust. What a pleasure it was to walk the garden paths and admire the incredible landscape design and gigantic variety of plant and tree species. It was hard to decide where to set up my easel.
I chose to paint with Lorraine by the pool. Of course, once again, I opted for the view over the shade and by 1pm I was feeling a little dizzy.... unable to complete a second painting (which was my goal), I packed up and finished this one at home.... in my air conditioned studio.
Lorraine and I took a few breaks and sat on the edge of the pool while dangling or feet in the water.. aaaahhh so cool and refreshing! So if the heat keeps up... I think "Pool Painting"is where you'll find me.
P.S. the painting looks so much better than this photo.
