Green Plant and Red Apples, oil on canvas 12 x 12
After I finished this painting I felt it was a little lopsided or unbalanced because of the two apples. Perhaps next time I'll stick with just one.
It almost looks like the green leaf is extending a hand to help the red apple maintain it's balance....or could it be getting ready to give it a little nudge... or shove to see if the apple would go tumbling out of the picture.
What I do like about this painting is the combination of complimentary colors red and green with a very neutral grayish blue back ground. The yellow painted handle and flower on the short round pitcher really pops next to the background color too.
