I love hopping in my car and heading to the shore for a day of painting.
That's the beauty of living here in Connecticut.
Wether I'm with a group of plein air painters like the Madison Art Society or with my husband Dean who's an avid fisherman... it's nice to feel the sunshine on my face and misty coastal air.
Recently I discovered a hidden treasure here in Connecticut... Stony Creek and the Thimble Islands. I feel in love with this quaint little New England seaside village and sunsets on the dock are just amazing.
I had the privilege to tag along with a wonderful group of painters - The Stony Creek Studio Painters. Led by Maureen Wilkinson and Christine Chiocchio who teach in watercolor and oils, respectively.
Each week during the summer season they head out with their students by ferry to one of the many islands that make up the Thimble Islands.... and paint.... all day!
Ahhhhh, that's not all ... there's fun, laughter, lunch break, sharing, wading, swimming, fishing, kyaking, and of course... learning... and yes a little relaxing on the porch.
