My love for painting pets started when my kids and our family dog were young and all I had time for were quick sketches in watercolor and pencil as they snuggled up on the couch together. My skills grew and as I moved into painting with oils, I found that love for capturing the soulful eyes of adorable pets has become... well a passion for me.
A sweet note about Mia's portrait:
"Thank you so very much, Linda! I am still crying over this. You have no idea how perfect the timing was for this gift. I have been praying to the Holy Spirit and have not been let down once. It is like you heard us, and that not only amazes me, but just strengthens my faith in our Lord and what is possible when you are open to His blessings. It's one thing to have a talent, but when you share that talent with someone and it lifts them up in the way it has lifted me, I am just left speechless. Please know this is one of the most precious gifts I have ever received. I can't wait for Tony and Hayley to come home to see it. Marissa was blown away. I am going to post a picture of the photo and the painting as soon as I can...hopefully tomorrow. Thank you again, and I pray that our Lord blesses you for doing such a beautiful act of kindness this holiday season." - Lisa C.

Apollo for Deb and Jim Kerr
"We absolutely love this painting, Linda. You really captured the essence of Apollo. He loves hiking and being in the mountains. The photo this is based on was taken on what was probably his last big hike. He's 15 now and doesn't have the strength in his legs to get up the mountains anymore. This is how we'll remember him long after he's gone. King of all that he surveys..."

1. Take plenty of photos. It's best to see your pet from different angles.
2. Use natural light, preferable outdoors without a flash. The flash will distort the shape of the eyes and dull the fur. Interior lamp lighting can make the fur look very yellow.
3. Take a few photos from different perspectives. i.e. looking down, at eye level and side portrait.
4. A few close-ups and full body (not cropping off legs or ears).
Remember the better the quality of photo the less guesswork when painting.
