Breezy Day at Griswold Point Old Lyme CT
36" x 48" stretched canvas
framed in a brushed gold frameThis painting was created based off of a plein air study that I did with the Madison Art Society. We were invited onto the private property of one of artist members. There were about 10 of us scattered around the expansive grounds. I followed the path through the fields filled with Queen Ann's Lace and headed down to the shore. The clouds were like cotton balls filled with beautiful pastel undertones. I could see both lighthouses from where I was standing but my time was short because the wind started picking up. At one point I held my easel umbrella with one hand while painting with the other. Felt a little like Mary Poppins... the adventures of plein air painting. Bring the study back to my studio I created a larger piece adding in the boat in the foreground.
